DÁVGI: Kick-off and methods workshop

16.10.2022 - 28.10.2022
Uhrzeit:

This week, the IASS will be hosting two events in relation to the research project DÁVGI Co-creation for biocultural diversity in the Arctic. DÁVGI aims to provide a basis for the exchange of knowledge and expertise to improve collaboration between Indigenous rights holders, environmental and other non-governmental organizations, local stakeholders, researchers, and policymakers, in order to strengthen the conservation and restoration of biocultural diversity in the Arctic. Commissioned by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection, this project is a combined effort of the Saami Council, Ecologic Institute, and IASS, and is carried out together with partners from across the Arctic.

On Wednesday, members of the Saami Council, Ecologic Institute, and IASS will welcome  representatives of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection for a Kick-Off event at the IASS. During the meeting, the ministry will be informed about the current process of the project and the most recent achievements. From Wednesday to Friday, the IASS will also host the first instance of a workshop series aimed to further establish and strengthen a network consisting of Indigenous and non-Indigenous partners. This workshop series will provide the time and space to co-reflect on ways of working together, shared goals and premises, and how to communicate this work to potential other collaborators. The process of co-designing a website will be central to this workshop series, and can be understood as a tool and method to ‘think with’ to exchange perspectives, opinions and thoughts within the network.
